Keynote Address
"The Real World of Head Injuries, Rehabilitation, Technology and Human Factors"
Gary Seale, Ph.D.
Dr. Gary Seale is the Vice President and Director of Clinical Programs for the Transitional Learning Center (TLC) at Galveston. Dr. Seale received his doctoral degree in Rehabilitation Science from the University of Texas Medical Branch (UTMB) at Galveston. He has worked exclusively in the area of post acute brain injury rehabilitation for the past 21 years, and holds a clinical appointment at UTMB in the department of Rehabilitation Science. He has conducted and published research in the field of rehabilitation outcomes for brain injuries, effective treatment of substance abuse in post acute settings, the relationship between positive emotion and recovery of functional status following stroke, and emergency preparedness for disabled populations. His publications include eleven peer-reviewed journal articles and two book chapters. Most recently, he developed the clinical treatment model for the TLC component of Project Victory, a TIRR Foundation Collaboration providing residential treatment to soldiers returning from Iraq and Afghanistan with mild traumatic brain injury (TBI) due to blast exposure. In addition to administrative and research duties at TLC, he participates in the treatment of adults with acquired brain injury, both civilians and active duty servicemen and veterans, with substance abuse disorders, sleep disorders, and PTSD. |
**Parking** |
Parking is free but you will need to park at the University of Houston-Clear Lake Parking Lot D (click here for more info). Starting at 7:45am a shuttle will pick-up participants and take them to USRA. The shuttle will run until 10am. |
